Steel-cored aluminum stranded wire mainly consists of a steel core and an outer layer of stranded aluminum wire. The steel core provides mechanical strength, while the aluminum wire is responsible for conductivity. This structure combines the high strength of steel with the excellent conductivity of aluminum, making it suitable for long-span overhead transmission lines.

 

Specifically:

Steel Core: Usually made of galvanized steel wire, located in the center of the conductor, it enhances tensile strength, supports the weight of the conductor itself, and withstands external loads such as wind and ice.

 

Aluminum Wire: Hard aluminum wire (compliant with GB/T 17048 standard) is stranded around the steel core, undertaking the main function of electrical energy transmission. Some models also use aluminum alloy wire to improve strength or heat resistance.

 

Furthermore, to improve corrosion resistance, aluminum-clad steel-cored aluminum stranded wire has been developed. Its steel core is covered with an aluminum layer, forming a metallurgical bond that avoids electrochemical corrosion caused by direct contact between steel and aluminum, significantly extending its service life.
