Poly ACSR Wire is an aluminum conductor steel reinforced covered with weather-resistant polyethylene. It is used in overhead distribution lines, installed on insulators, otherwise treated as bare conductor.
Products Description
Poly ACSR is a concentrically stranded ACSR, stranded according to ASTM B 232, covered with weather resistant black polyethylene compound. The insulation is PE insulated, 75°C, with a voltage rating of 600 Volts. The same series also includes POLY Al. and POLY AAC, both solid 1350-H19 aluminum and concentrically stranded according to ASTM B 231, covered with weather resistant black polyethylene compound.

Line sections requiring certain mechanical strength but not bare conductor strength
Coastal and industrial pollution areas, where the covering isolates part of the corrosive media
FAQ
What kinds of damage can the covering of Poly ACSR Wire suffer during installation?
Common damage includes scratches from friction with the ground or poles during stringing, deformation from squeezing when the pulley diameter is too small, and marks from tying with iron wire. Once the covering is damaged, that point no longer has weather protection. It is recommended to repair with a dedicated repair tape or cut out that section.
When this product is used in coastal areas, is additional corrosion protection needed under the covering?
There is no water-blocking layer between the covering and the conductor. Coastal salt spray may penetrate from the ends or from damaged areas of the covering. The galvanized coating on the steel core provides basic corrosion protection, but sealing the ends and joints is recommended to reduce moisture ingress along the conductor. For long-term exposure to salt spray, aluminum-clad steel core or alloy-coated steel core models can be selected.
What standard is used to verify the weather resistance of the covering?
The covering is a weather resistant black polyethylene compound, verified according to ANSI C-8.35 "Specifications for Weather-Resistant Polyethylene-Covered Wire and Cable". The covering type and corresponding standard should be specified at the time of ordering.
