ACSR Aluminum Wire is an overhead transmission conductor made of aluminum wires concentrically stranded around a galvanized steel core. The aluminum layer carries current, while the steel core bears mechanical load.
Products Description
The product uses a galvanized steel core with multiple aluminum wires stranded on the outside. Aluminum has low density and good conductivity, while steel has high tensile strength. The combination suits long-span overhead lines. Based on the aluminum-to-steel cross-sectional area ratio, it is classified into standard, light-duty and reinforced types, suitable for transmission and distribution lines of various voltage levels. The steel core of our ACSR aluminum wire undergoes pretreatment, drawing and hot-dip galvanizing, offering better corrosion resistance than conventional ACSR.

FAQ
What is the role of the steel core in ACSR Aluminum Wire?
The steel core mainly bears mechanical tension, preventing the conductor from breaking during long-span, long-distance installation. The outer aluminum wires carry current, using aluminum's light weight, good conductivity and low cost for power transmission.
What should be noted when this product is used in corrosive environments?
The galvanized coating on the steel core is key to corrosion protection. In coastal, industrial pollution or high-humidity environments, once the zinc coating is consumed, the steel core begins to rust. For such conditions, aluminum-clad steel core or alloy-coated steel core can be selected, with better corrosion resistance than ordinary galvanized steel core.
How to select the right model?
For distribution lines below 5kV, small cross-section ACSR can be used. For 35kV and above transmission lines, ACSR should be used to ensure mechanical strength. For heavy ice areas, long spans or high wind pressure areas, high-strength steel core models should be selected. For 500kV and above UHV lines, expanded diameter ACSR can be used.
